The District of Columbia is a great place to engage in the business of banking and financial services. The Department of Insurance, Securities, and Banking (DISB) and the Executive Branch work closely with the Council of the District of Columbia to provide an attractive environment to establish a national and international financial center in DC. DISB regularly reviews and updates the laws it administers to provide consumer protection, economic development, and a fair financial market that benefits DC consumers and businesses.

For more information on the legislative process, visit the DC Council's website for "how a bill becomes a law."
